The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) is the academic wing and think tank of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. With the introduction of Section 442 under Companies Act, 2013, it is now possible to resolve corporate and commercial disputes faster and economically through use of mediation. Owing to introduction of this new dispute resolution mechanism of first resort, IICA has taken up the mandate to promote awareness on how mediation works and training professionals to become mediators.
IICA is setting up India International Mediation Centre (IIMC), the first of its kind in India for handling various domestic and cross border commercial disputes at pre and post litigation stage in relation to:
As a first step in its initiative, IICA proposes to carry out a series of mediation training across India (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru).
The training program in 2016 got a very good response with approximately 100 professionals trained across India.
